Tariq Omar ’04
Senior Manager Business & Strategy Analysis, Innovation Labs, Vulcan, Inc.
Tariq is currently the Senior Strategy Manager for HTC Creative Labs, leading a team that builds HTC’s portfolio of future technology. His work includes engaging with the start-up and university R&D communities to identify new innovations, ensuring viability from both a financial and engineering standpoint, and developing the roadmap to get the product to launch. Over the course of his tenure at HTC Tariq has been involved in the discovery, refinement, and release of many new technologies, products and services surrounding imaging, health/fitness tracking, entertainment, advanced software and more.
Prior to HTC, Tariq was an Associate at BlackRock Alternative Advisers focused on special situations (distressed, bankruptcy, restructuring) investing for BlackRock’s direct and fund-of-fund investment vehicles.
Tariq holds an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and a BA in Economics and Government from Claremont McKenna College. He and his wife (also a CMC alum) live in Seattle. In his spare time, Tariq rows crew competitively, is an avid Nordic skier, and follows the Seahawks, Mariners, and Duke basketball team to an unhealthy degree.
