E. David Hetz, Managing Director and Vice Chair, heads the Firm’s Strategic Advisory practice and is a member of the Executive Committee.  Mr. Hetz has over 35 years of investment banking, private equity, venture capital, and boardroom experience.  Prior to joining Prager & Co., he was Vice Chairman of Cain Brothers & Co., a leading healthcare investment banking firm.  In 2001 Mr. Hetz co-founded and was managing partner of Cutlass Capital, a venture capital and growth equity fund making investments in healthcare services and medical technologies.  From 1987 until 2000 he served as co-head of investment banking, head of the mergers and acquisitions department, and member of the management committee of Robertson, Stephens & Co., where he led its emergence as one of the preeminent M&A advisors to the healthcare industry.

Mr. Hetz is a graduate of Claremont McKenna College (BA in Economics) and Harvard Business School (MBA).  Over the past two decades, he has served on over a dozen public and private corporate and not-for-profit boards.  In particular, since 2002 Mr. Hetz has served on the board of trustees of Claremont McKenna College in many leadership positions, including vice chair of the board, chair of the Board Affairs Committee, chair of the Strategic Planning Committee, and co-chair of the college’s historic $635 million capital campaign.  In addition, he has served as trustee of the Middlesex School (Concord, MA), the Cathedral School for Boys (San Francisco), and the Bay School of San Francisco (founding board member and past chair).  Mr. Hetz has also been a frequent guest lecturer at Harvard Business School, Claremont McKenna College, and Boston University.  Mr. Hetz is a FINRA Registered Series 79 Investment Banking Representative.
