Scott Gilbertson ‘91

Scott Gilbertson is a native Minnesotan. He spent his elementary and middle school years studying and playing hockey in Fargo, ND before attending high school at Phillips Academy Andover. He earned his undergraduate degree from Claremont McKenna College and his MBA from Northwestern University.

Scott is a Partner at TPG. He spends his time focused on business building, talent development, and shareholder value creation within the portfolio of investments made by TPG’s middle market private equity platform TPG Growth. Over the course of his career he has had the honor of serving in a number of leadership positions including CEO of J.Crew, President of Bally of Switzerland, CEO of Fender Musical Instruments, CEO of Taco Bueno, COO of CLEAResult and Chief Merchant of Under Armour.

Scott’s current and prior Board service of note includes CLEAResult, David’s Bridal, Fender Musical Instruments, Fred Segal, Fraym, Greencross, Independent Pet Partners, Infinidat, IPSY, Rotoplas, Taco Bueno, The Vincraft Group (Kosta Browne/Gary Farrell), Xponential Fitness and 3 Day Blinds.

Scott is passionate about creating opportunities for youth and is proud of his Board of Trustees role with the 1st Tee of San Francisco and The Hamlin School for Girls.

Scott spent a number of years living and working in Mexico and Venezuela while at The Boston Consulting Group. He is grateful for the experience and for the opportunity to learn a second language.

Scott, his wife and three children live in San Francisco. They love to laugh, travel, and play in the great outdoors.
